Asian Museum Network Conference MUSCON 2011
|
Vitra Design Museum is very pleased to join with Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Department of Cultural Affairs Taipei City Government in announcing this year’s Asian MUSCON in Taipei from 6th till 9th October.
We thank you for all the positive responses and registrations we received thus far for this year’s conference.
MUSCON is an exchange platform with a focus on networking, exhibition coproduction and travelling exhibitions. Museums professionals get together over the course of four days to benefit from bilateral and multilateral cooperation and coordination and gain new inspiration and impetus. This is how MUSCON helps to ensure the quality and volume of museum programming today.
Each participant is offered the opportunity to give a 10-minute speech on his or her new exhibitions, travelling exhibitions and projects. Besides we will have lectures and discussions around the topics “creative education – improving the future” and “travelling exhibitions / global cooperation”.
We were able to pledge inspiring speakers like Daisy Lan Hung (Chair and Professor, Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, National Central University, Taiwan), Alexander von Vegesack (Head of the educational center in Boisbuchet, summer academy for aspiring international designers, Founding Director and Chairman of the board of the Vitra Design Museum), Gene King (Chief Curator of the 2011 Shenzhen – Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism / Architecture), Fang‐wei Chang (Director of Biennial and International Projects Office, Taipei Fine Arts Museum) and Johnson Chang (Founding Director of the Hanart T Z Gallery and Co-Founder of the Asia Art Archive).
In addition, we have prepared a variety of interesting visits and tours such as a trip to the Taiwan Design Center, Song-Shan Tobacco Creative Design Park, the Pavilion of Dream, the Xue Xue Institute and the National Palace Museum and we will have relaxed lunches and dinners confected by famous chefs.
Furthermore we are pleased to announce that there will as always be no annual fees or registration charges. Conference meals are covered by the host and hotel accommodation is available at special discount.
Please make sure to arrange your own travel and accommodation in a timely fashion. You can find a list of hotels and more information below or on Facebook.
More information will be sent in the coming weeks, but please reserve these dates so you can participate in the conference, meet colleagues and join in the discussions on all manner of interesting themes. Please let us also know if you wish to receive further information about the MUSCON in Lisbon (19th till 22nd October 2011) or MUSCON Miami Beach (28th till 30th November 2011). You are welcome to pass this invitation on to others in your institution.
MUSCON was conceived to promote global exchange and since many former participants wished to receive information on the offered exhibitions of all three MUSCONs we decided to provide you with a special goody first time ever this year:
You are welcome to prepare a summary of your exhibitions and institution for the global touring exhibition database MUSCON Sherp. We will upload your material and give the MUSCON community from all over the world the opportunity to get acquainted with your program. Please send your information as PDF file to laura.kaufmann@design-museum.de.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in Taipei.
With best regards,
